Preventive Maintenance: Extending the Life of Medical Equipment

Hospitals in Bangladesh lose crores of taka every year to premature equipment failure — most of it preventable. A structured preventive maintenance program is the highest-return investment a facility can make.

Build a tiered PM schedule

Classify devices by criticality:

  • Tier 1 (life support) — monthly inspection, quarterly full PM
  • Tier 2 (monitoring & diagnostic) — quarterly inspection, half-yearly PM
  • Tier 3 (support equipment) — half-yearly inspection, annual PM

When to outsource

If your facility has fewer than 150 devices, a maintenance contract is usually more economical than a full in-house team. ANHA's PM contracts include 24/7 emergency coverage for ICU and OT devices.
